Ten Frame Bingo

Focus: Number recognition, matching, and counting

This playful version of bingo helps children match numbers to ten frame patterns. It’s perfect for practising number recognition and visualising what each number looks like on the frame.

Equipment you’ll need:

  • Ten frame (from your Starter Pack) or printed mini ten frames

  • Counters or cubes

  • Number cards 1–10 (from your Starter Pack)

How to play:

  1. Make small bingo boards using drawn or printed ten frames filled with different numbers (1–10).

  2. Turn over the number cards one at a time and call them out.

  3. Your child covers the matching ten frame pattern on their board.

  4. Keep playing until someone gets a full line or fills their board, call out “Bingo!”

Extension idea:

Let your child be the caller. You can also use real ten frames instead of printed ones, show a number of counters on the frame and see if they can find the matching pattern.

Why it matters:

This activity helps children make the connection between written numbers, spoken numbers, and visual quantities. Matching and recognising patterns strengthens number sense and supports quick recall of number facts.
