Early Years Guidance Has Changed: Is your nursery ready for the new expectations around maths?

Early years maths is changing. But what does that actually mean for your setting?

The updated Ofsted expectations place a much stronger emphasis on explicit teaching of mathematics, but this doesn’t mean formal maths lessons, worksheets or taking the maths out of play.

It means intentionally introducing mathematical ideas, vocabulary and skills, and then giving children lots of opportunities to practice, explore and apply their learning through play and everyday experiences.

So what could this look like in your nursery?

We’ve created a FREE guide to help you understand the new expectations.
